China's Transportation Sector Off to a Good Start in Q1

2025 marks the final year of the 14th Five-Year Plan. Stabilizing effective investment in transportation and continuously reducing costs while improving quality and efficiency in transport and logistics are key tasks for the transportation sector. Data shows that in Q1, China's commercial freight volume reached 13.06 billion tons, up 4.9% year-on-year, with growth rate one percentage point higher than the full-year 2024 figure; Port cargo throughput totaled 4.22 billion tons, a 3.2% increase year-on-year; Cross-regional passenger trips hit 17.39 billion, growing 4.0% year-on-year, with Spring Festival travel setting new historical records; Transportation fixed-asset investment completed 675.2 billion yuan, with railway and waterway investments showing relatively faster growth.
